What is it that makes growing a business a struggle, hard or slower than you want?

Friendly reminder to new visitors and subscribers: the podcast and the written copy are different. They are on the same content, but I offer far more on the podcast than simply reading the article.

I’ve spent over a decade working with intuitive and spiritual women to help them work through the puzzle of what prevents them from creating the growth they want.

  • What is it that makes growing our business not easeful?

  • What is it about our own beliefs, habits, and perceptions that seem to make growth ‘hard’?

  • And what is it about the nature of our culture that plays a part in the growth of our business?

What is it that makes growing a business a struggle, hard or slower than you want? In particular for intuitive, spiritual and highly self-aware women.

This is what I’ve learned as I’ve sought answers to those questions:

  1. Conventional business practices rub you the wrong way.

This is because conventional business invalidates your own innate or intuitive wisdom.

Conventional business practices are designed for a time that believed the logical, step-by-step, information-consuming mind was right. Traditional business practices rarely, if ever, consider your unique situation, or the power of your inner wisdom, intuition, feelings or energy.

  2. You don’t feel fully comfortable being your powerful, gifted, intuitive self – openly.

Traditional business doesn’t take into consideration feelings, emotions or the nature of energy and intuition. In fact, all of those things have been ridiculed for decades. And while the collective is becoming more open to intuition and energy, we have a way to go before it’s integrated openly into business practices as a whole.

Which means that you often have to do more than a bit of unlearning or retraining

of beliefs to really own your own power when you are following your intuition or listening to your inner guidance - and using them as a center point of your business.

  3. You don’t believe you can do what you truly want to do and make the money you want, or can’t see how it would work.

Often this goes back to #1 and #2 above. Being invalidated for the gift you have and the wisdom you live your life by takes its toll. In truth, holding belief in yourself when you are judged, shamed, and disparaged is hard.

This point is also often closely married to the belief that in order to be successful, you’ll have to do too much work, not have the freedom you want, or have to show up in ways you don’t want to – think dancing reels.

  4. You’re really clear about what you don’t want, and are mostly clear about what you do want, but can’t see ‘how’ to get it or get there.

Lack of clarity and not knowing how are the two safest and easiest ways to address #1, #2 and #3. When you are not clear on ‘what’ to do, it’s acceptable to wait until it becomes clear.

I often see women go to many lengths to figure out ‘how’ and become overwhelmed by the choices and directions. Which makes overwhelm another way to create inaction.

  5. Deep inside there’s fear that you’ll really try and it won’t work, or fear that you will succeed and that sets off different triggers.

These fears are often running deep under the surface and don’t show up openly or easily.

As a conscious woman, devoted to your own growth - you’ve been doing the inner work to grow through these struggles for a while.

And chances are, you’ve made a lot of progress and you mostly feel really good about your life. You are happy with many areas of your life.

But there’s just this one place, around your work and your business, that hasn’t come clear or materialized - and you really want it to. It’s an ongoing thing.

Here’s the piece of the puzzle that’s been missing:

You’ve not yet fully realized you can emerge as the person you’ve been healing and growing yourself into.

There’s a point when we can shift our primary focus away from growth and healing into being who it is you have been becoming.

How do you BE who you’ve become?

I think we collectively think it just happens. Sorta like, once you heal the thing then you can be the healed person.

Really?

We spent years unlearning and undoing the training and trauma that made us who we are. And then spent years learning to see who we really are under the trauma and conditioning.

Wouldn’t it then make sense that there might be something more to BEING who we truly are?

After all, we’ve developed really clear habits of thoughts and feelings that supported our growth and healing.

Those habits don’t just stop.

We need to see them and choose a different thought. We can learn to notice them and create a new habit of thought that exists for someone who is being who they have become.

Here’s an example from my life:

I believed for a long time that my business wasn’t growing because I was not doing enough and because I was doing something wrong.

So I looked within to unravel where those beliefs came from. And I’ve done A LOT of unraveling and healing.

I did have beliefs that I wasn’t enough that went all the way back to my childhood and relationship with my mother. And those beliefs became behaviors and thoughts that influenced the ways I engaged with life. The end result was that I created ‘not enough’ in a lot of areas of my life.

I’ve also spent time learning the impact and implications of being marginalized, not only for being intuitive but also for choosing to openly do work in a traditional industry (business) as an intuitive and energy worker.

When what you do and the skill/gift you have is marginalized, ridiculed or disparaged by society, it’s hard not to feel like you are wrong.

To step out alone, and break with collective thought by running your business based on your intuition, is hard.

And it was easy to question myself. Easy to slip into believing I was doing something wrong. Especially when that was also a belief I picked up as a child.

But I’d done the work. Even though I’d unraveled the ‘not enough’ and learned ‘I am not wrong,’ my business didn’t grow as I wanted it to. I had some growth, just not as I wanted.

So, what would you do? I did what I had been doing. Looking within to see what else needed unraveling. I looked for ways I was falling into old limiting beliefs.

I was repeating a pattern I had learned that had served me well. The ‘healing-inner-work’ pattern.

The more I did the inner work the better I felt. Stronger, happier, more joyful. This pattern worked.

But to create more – to create the growth in my business that I wanted – I had to BE the growth I had become.

I’d spent all this time creating me – this me now. The one without so much of the conditioning, and who is not being run so much by inner child fears.

I’ve had to learn to BE me.

Which has meant learning new habits of thought that do not immediately default to doing more inner work and healing.

It has meant being okay with feeling uncomfortable because growth is uncomfortable.

It has meant really listening for what this me wants to do and how, and honoring it.

It has meant teaching my thoughts to look for and see other options in life beyond the ones that in the past validated the old me. Said another way, I’ve been teaching my thoughts and feelings to see a different reality.

I am emerging as the person I’ve been healing and growing myself into.

And I can help you do the same.

You can be supported to emerge into the person you have grown into. Activate Emergence is designed for exactly that.

It’s a 6-week mentoring program that will harmonize your energies, open the flow of clarity and possibilities, and support you to take action – specifically around the dream or desire you want to grow.

We are ready to start our October cohort just as soon as the rest of the 8 women come forth.

If you’re ready to emerge and want support, click here to apply for Activate Emergence and book a Clarity call.
