I wonder… have you ever used a shovel to dig a hole in soil?
The doors are open for Emergence, it's time to apply
I wonder… have you ever used a shovel to dig a hole in soil?
Have you held a shovel in your hands and put your foot on it and given it a strong push against the hard dirt only to make the barest of dents?
That moment when you realize you need to take a breath, line the shovel up just so, while you make this whole body adjustment and then you take a small jump to come down with force and impact to drive the shovel into the packed earth?
I grew up in a home where my dad dug 5-foot holes to plant a small fruit tree. (In case you are wondering, that’s extreme overkill.) So we had shovels and learned to dig in clay dirt. Clay is hard. That was when I was growing up in El Paso.
And when I moved to Georgetown, Texas, I took a shovel to dig a hole to plant a peach tree in my backyard, I learned about the mere few inches of topsoil before you hit a layer of gravel and stone. As you might imagine, packed gravel is harder than clay.
I share this because I was reflecting on how life is feeling better these days after years (decades!) of feeling like my inner work was like digging in hard soil.
It has felt like a full body, strenuous, muscle-aching experience. One that leaves blisters, where you have the salty sting of sweat in your eyes and a wince the next morning when you roll out of bed.
The effort of going deep to unearth the emotional wounds and fears of the inner child leaves similar painful echoes in the heart, emotional body and nervous system. It takes time and care to work them out, just like it takes time to work out the sore muscles from manual digging.
My deep inner work began in earnest in 2007, but I’d been prepared with intense challenges starting back in 2001.
By 2017, I sensed the shift. And while I couldn’t quite name it then, I knew something fundamental had changed within the fabric of life, not just for me but for all of us.
The way I described it at the time was that it was like some of us had chosen to come to the planet with an extra heavy bag of karma to clear and with the 2017-shift the bag was gone. Only it took us a while to figure out how to navigate life because while the bag was gone, we still believed we had it on our backs.
My life over the last five years, from 2017 through 2022, didn’t get easier because the bag was gone. They were some of the most intense, and in some ways, the most painful.
Here’s why… because when you’ve spent the time, energy and attention to going deep to heal the broken parts inside of you…
…to finding the ways that you made yourself small, judged yourself, and sabotaged yourself…
… to seeing how you made a life you thought was exactly what you wanted but turned out instead to be driven by your unconscious self in an effort to keep you from dealing with fears you didn’t realize you had…
…what you have left at the end of all that is you, and an awareness that settles in that it is no longer about digging and healing.
Instead, of the digging and healing, it’s about BEING.
Being big, being confident, being powerful. Being joyful and whole. Being a heart and soul who has fears - will have more fears - that do not run the show.
You realize it’s about emerging into the you that you went digging for.
My journey - from the deeply painful inner digging, to the time and care of working out the sore emotional body - taught me what I needed to know to create and lead Emergence.
And now I open the doors for the women who are ready to practice emerging into the you you are here to BE.
I can practically hear a few of you thinking ‘oh, I still have more healing to do, I’m not ready yet’.
So hear this: every single one of us is ready. You can stop digging.
If you decide right now to choose to practice living as the big, powerful, confident, joyful you, it doesn’t mean that you won’t deal with fear, or unearth another part of your wounded child. You will. Only it won’t be the clay you build your life from as you did in the past. It will be a feeling that flows through you and gives you a new way to know yourself as powerful, confident and joyful.
We are here to evolve and create. To try new things. Have new experiences. Play with this ‘one precious life.’
You can do all of that as the not-ready person who has more healing to do, or you can do it as the divine-soul-human who came here to know herself as a powerful creator and have fun.
I want you to choose the fun, powerful creator path, so I invite you to join me in Emergence.
I bet you want it too 😉
Beautiful...
